LONAP Activities Update

LONAP Activities Update

I wanted to provide a brief update on activities at LONAP for Q1-Q3 2025.

Our provisioning workload has remained steady for this period, with 27 networks joining the exchange.

On average, we see between five and ten new participants each quarter.

During the same period, we also completed 58 upgrade tasks for existing Members.

Over the past year, we have worked to align our systems and processes with ISO 27001:2022, and I’m pleased to announce that LONAP is now fully certified, marking a key milestone in strengthening our information security management.

We have also deployed a new route collector using Bird. The route collector is designed for observation and analysis. It receives BGP updates from members but does not advertise any routes back.

This allows it to support monitoring, troubleshooting, and visibility across the exchange without influencing routing decisions or affecting live traffic.

The new collector also has a new Alice-lg Looking Glass to provide a user-friendly, web based view of received prefixes. It also shows much more information about prefixes for example IRRDB, RPKI and filtering communities, using a similar policy to the route servers.

The collector is also visible alongside the existing route server looking glasses.

As we near the end of the year the LONAP team will be joining NetLDN next week on the evening of 13 November in “Henrys Den” @Finches, 12a Finsbury Square, London EC2A 1AN and I hope to see some of you there.
